Meet Kindal and Dr. HolmanKindal and Dr Holman Graphic

Kindal Andrews, APRN and Dr. John Holman were close colleagues for five years at Carson Tahoe Minden Medical Center. Kindal shares that “Dr. Holman and I were getting burned out with the fee-for-service model, and we discussed Vera’s advanced primary care (APC) model. As primary care providers, we want to give quality, evidence-based care to our patients, but it is difficult when you see over 20 patients a day.”

Dr. Holman decided to join a team at Vera and found the environment was one in which he felt both valued and respected. He decided to refer Kindal because “Kindal is a very intelligent, hard working, and diligent provider who connects well with patients. I knew she would fit in well with patients and staff.”

“I trusted Dr. Holman’s advice to apply to have a more balanced home and work life,” shares Kindal. “After doing my own research on Vera, their values aligned with my values.”

“I loved the concept of the APC model. The model promotes optimal patient outcomes while decreasing healthcare costs.”

Kindal is happy with her decision to join Vera. “Everyone at Vera has been so welcoming. I received a thorough orientation from a variety of knowledgeable staff. I feel like I am not just another number at Vera but a valuable employee.

Meet Colleen and Heather

Colleen and Heather GraphicHeather Compton referred Colleen Steinhauser to Vera after the two worked as nurse recruiters on the same team for Cielo Talent. Colleen says, “We are both passionate about finding the best talent for the institutions we work for. We often discussed moving into roles that would allow us to mentor and shape new recruiters and also design and manage recruitment programs that would allow us to bring that top tier talent we were always searching for to our client.”

When Heather began working for Vera in 2021, she felt welcomed from the very beginning. “I thought Colleen would be a perfect fit for Vera because I knew of her work ethic, her skills as a recruiter and as a collaborator,” she says. “I knew if she learned about Vera and what it represents, she would love the company as much as I do.”

According to Colleen, “I loved Vera’s philosophy! Being able to find exceptional candidates and bring them to Vera seemed like a dream job for me.”

“So far I have had a wonderful experience at Vera. Everyone (and I mean everyone) is so nice, so willing to help, and so welcoming.”

Meet Marianne and Dr. Swiggum

Marianne Kartchner, ARNP and Dr. Kristina Swiggum worked together at a private internal medicine practice for nine years, sharing a patient panel and collaborating daily. Marianne says, “We often discussed ways to improve patient care and the patient experience. We also value one another as individuals and what we bring to the clinic.”

Dr. Swiggum discovered Vera and determined that the company values and emphasis on patient care and employee satisfaction were appealing. She joined and decided to refer Marianne for an open position because she is “adaptable, knowledgeable, and always willing to help. She is independent and I trust her medical knowledge, clinical skills, and judgment.”

Marianne was excited about coming to work at Vera, stating that “I believe in the concept of APC and wanted to return to a model that felt fulfilling and beneficial to patients.”

She adds, “I love my team at 6th and Washington. This is an incredible group of people — dedicated and positive.”
