Joan Brown, NP

Prior to Vera, Joan worked as a primary care provider in a small family practice in Atlanta. Much of her family nurse practitioner career includes working as a Home Health Care Provider making home visits to patients. Her experience includes assessment, diagnosis, management and treatment of acute and chronic conditions. Joan also provides education, manages medications and assists patients in gaining access to community resources. Joan attended South University in Savannah Georgia where she graduated magna cum laude with a Master of Science in Nursing. Joan is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner. As a child, my father took me on walks around the infirmary of our local hospital on Sundays. During these visits, he instilled the importance of service and the value of helping others. I became enamored with the nurses I met – their compassion and empathy as they took care of their sick patients. To this day, I continue to uphold the experience as a standard of my care and service. Vera affords the opportunity to provide the kind of care for patients I always felt they deserved. Our care teams make it convenient for patients to make same or next day appointments to see providers. The wrap-around care model is representative of treating the "whole person" with easy access to health coaching, behavioral health, and case management. My alignment with the above values is why I am proud to be a member of the Vera team. Outside of caring for patients, I enjoy cooking, reading, gardening and learning about nature. I love plants, grow my own vegetables and own chickens as pets.
