Joynita Nicholson, DO

Dr. Joynita R. Nicholson, DO, AOBFP, DABOM, FOMA, a coastal North Carolina native, is a seasoned, personable family doctor who received her medical degree from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio (1999). She is board certified in Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy as well as Obesity Medicine. Dr. Nicholson pioneered the integration of obesity medicine into patient care in her health care market during her tenure at Bon Secours. She became the first Obesity Medical Director of their first medical/surgical weight management center. She is also one of the first 2 physicians in Richmond, VA to receive distinction as a Fellow of Obesity Medicine (2018) by the Obesity Medicine Association. For 20 years, Dr. Nicholson has compassionately provided Richmond, VA and its surrounding areas with comprehensive, top-quality, results driven, personalized care. She has partnered with diverse populations of patients in urban, suburban, integrative concierge and Native American owned rural practice settings. She has affectionately been described by many as "a great doctor who really listens and genuinely care about her patients. Dr. Nicholson has given thousands of people effective treatment for their acute illnesses and chronic diseases including obesity, diabetes, high cholesterol, hypertension ,asthma and hypothyroidism.
